Printed Circuit Board Production

At EIZO’s smart factory in Hakui City, we produce printed circuit boards (PCBs) for our monitors entirely in-house. Thousands of tiny components are placed and soldered onto each board, with operations running 24 hours a day.

Multiple inspection machines are strategically installed at critical points throughout the process for real-time quality control. AI inspection, developed in joint collaboration between the factory and R&D department, provides a layer of precision checking. To further ensure quality and accuracy, human eye inspection is additionally conducted by our highly trained staff.

By controlling the production chain from the development of the circuitry, we can ensure that technical components are lighter, more compact, and flexible, perfectly tailored to every product. This approach contributes to our unparalleled quality, minimizes lead time, and provides extended lifecycle support for our products.

Optimized Manual and Automated Processes

Our factory headquarters in Hakusan utilizes both manual and automated processes to optimize production efficiency. Robotic arms ensure secure and efficient movement of products through various stages of assembly, and AI is integrated into quality control processes for precision. Automated carts, conveyor belts, and lift systems further streamline the production line across multiple floors of the factory.

Manual operations are employed for tasks that require greater flexibility and adaptability. This sophisticated integration of manual and automated processes ensures both flexibility and high-quality in our manufacturing operations.   image

ISO Class 1 Clean Room

Our factory has its own ISO Class 1 clean room where touch panel monitors and other sensitive products are produced. Class 1 is the highest classification of ISO 14644-1, specifying a maximum concentration of particles of 0.1 micrometers per 1 m³ of air. To maintain this strict standard of cleanliness, only a small number of workers are permitted in this area.

Sustainability Initiative

Since January 2024, all electricity at our production sites in Japan has been sourced from 100% renewable energy. Originally planned for 2026, this shift has been accelerated under our "Transition to Net Zero" low carbon plan, reducing GHG emissions by approximately 1,500 t-CO₂e annually.

Adjustment and Inspection

To ensure impeccable display quality right out of the box, our monitors go through a process called “aging”, which involves powering on the monitor for a specified duration to stabilize the circuit inside.

During adjustment and inspection, cameras test the brightness, color, and grayscale of each monitor and adjust to a standardized level. This is followed by EIZO’s renowned “human eye test”, where skilled workers visually inspect each monitor to check for any discrepancies, ensuring that every product meets our exacting standards.   image

Anechoic Chamber

EIZO’s headquarters features an on-site anechoic chamber for conducting electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) tests.

This unique in-house testing capability not only ensures that our products comply with various international regulations but also facilitates streamlined collaboration between our testing facilities and R&D department, enabling quick turnarounds during a product’s early development stages.

Durability Test Center

To ensure our specialized products can withstand harsh environments, we conduct tests for vibration, temperature, humidity, dust, and water resistance in our in-house durability test center.

This rigorous testing ensures that our products are highly reliable for maritime, industry, and other demanding environments.

Packaging & Shipping

Eco-Conscious Packaging

Our automated conveyor belt system efficiently delivers the fully assembled and tested monitors to the packing station, where workers carefully pack the product, its accessories, and documentation.

Prioritizing sustainability, many of our recent products utilize eco-conscious packaging, such as molded pulp made from recycled cardboard and newspaper. With each new sustainably focused product, EIZO strives to reduce packaging size compared to their predecessors, thereby decreasing GHG (Greenhouse Gas) emissions during transport.   image
