More Ways to Save - Smarter Energy Use in the Office
Energy-Efficient by Design: FlexScan Business Monitors
EIZO’s FlexScan business monitors are built with a strong focus on energy-efficient design and low environmental impact. Equipped with a wide range of power-saving functions, they help significantly reduce electricity usage and related costs in the workplace.
For over 30 years, EIZO has been committed to developing environmentally conscious products. Our energy-saving technologies continue to evolve, and simply upgrading to the latest FlexScan models can lead to substantial reductions in power consumption.
For example, the 24.1-inch EV2436W (available from 2012-2015) had a typical power consumption of 19W. In comparison, the 24.1-inch EV2410R, released in 2025, consumes just 8W. By simply replacing your monitor with the latest model, you can reduce power consumption by an impressive 58%!
What’s more, all FlexScan monitors come with a 5-year warranty1 that covers repair costs2 in the unlikely event of an issue. This long-term reliability allows you to use your monitor with peace of mind while significantly reducing running costs.
1 Usage time limited to 30,000 hours
2 Restrictions apply. If your monitor requires repair, please contact the EIZO group company or distributor in your country listed on the Contact EIZO page.

Based on usage of one FlexScan EV2410R monitor. Assumes 8 hours of use per day, 200 working days per year, over a 5-year period. Data as of April 2025, based on EIZO’s internal research. Figures calculated based on the Emission Factors by Electric Power Company (FY2023 results, published in 2024) – TEPCO Energy Partner “Menu N (residual)” [0.431kg of CO2 per 1kWh of electricity] published by the Ministry of the Environment of Japan. Actual power savings may vary depending on usage environment.

EIZO's Eco Calculator allows you to quickly compare your current monitor and EIZO FlexScan monitors to find out how much you could save in annual costs and GHG reduction. |

While simply switching to the latest FlexScan models can lead to as much as 58% energy savings, you can expect even
greater savings by using three key energy-saving techniques.
Technique 1
Save Smart with Auto Brightness Control
Modern monitors are trending towards higher brightness specifications, and their default settings may result in screens that are brighter than necessary. Adjusting screen brightness to match room lighting not only improves visibility but also contributes to energy savings.
In a typical office environment (with ambient lighting levels equivalent to 300-500 lux), an appropriate screen brightness is around 100-150 cd/m2. For general office use, we recommend setting your monitor’s brightness to around 100 cd/m2, and in dimly lit home environments, lower brightness settings are even more suitable.
Auto-Adjust to Optimal Screen Brightness: Auto EcoView and EcoView Optimizer 2
Since ambient brightness changes throughout the day, ideally, the screen brightness should be adjusted regularly. However, doing this manually can be tedious and time-consuming.
FlexScan monitors are equipped with a sensor that measures ambient light and automatically adjusts the screen brightness to optimal levels using the Auto EcoView function. This helps mitigate eye strain while also contributing to smarter energy use.
In addition, most models feature EcoView Optimizer 2, which fine-tunes the backlight brightness according to the content displayed on the screen, further optimizing power usage.

Tested using FlexScan EV2410R monitor with Auto EcoView enabled. Monitor brightness measured between 9:25 A.M. and 6:25 P.M. under EIZO’s internal test environment. Brightness set to factory default. Actual power savings may vary depending on usage environment.

Technique 2
Automatically Power Off with Power Save Mode
Leaving your monitor turned on when not in use results in unnecessary power consumption. Since monitors require very little power to start up, turning them off even when you are away from your desk for a short time can help save energy.
Automatically Power Off the Monitor: Power Save ModeFlexScan monitors automatically switch to power save mode (consuming less than 0.5W) when the connected PC enters sleep mode. For extended periods of non-use, such as business trips or after work, turning off the main power switch on the back of the monitor reduces power consumption to 0W, offering even greater energy efficiency. |

Technique 3
Manage Monitor & PC Power Settings with Centralized Control
While FlexScan monitors offer multiple energy-saving features, in workplaces with many units, meaningful power savings can only be achieved if each monitor is properly configured by individual users.
Manage Devices Company-Wide: Screen InStyle Server
Using EIZO’s free software Screen InStyle Server, organizations can centrally manage the brightness settings and enable features like Auto EcoView and EcoView Optimizer 2 across multiple FlexScan monitors connected via the network.
Power settings for PCs connected to these monitors can also be controlled. By centrally configuring OS power settings, such as the time until the monitor turns off or the PC enters sleep mode, you can implement efficient and effective energy-saving practices across the entire organization.
