Hakusan, Japan, April 13, 2023 – EIZO Corporation (TSE: 6737) today introduced the first 4K models to join its newest generation of FlexScan business professional monitors – the 31.5-inch EV3240X and 27-inch EV2740X. These frameless monitors feature 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels) and are equipped with USB Type-C connectivity for supporting streamlined viewing and operation in the modern workspace. The monitors achieve exemplary ergonomics, energy-savings, and sustainability to lessen impact on the environment.

The FlexScan EV3240X and EV2740X feature 4K Ultra-High-Definition (UHD) resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels), which is four times the amount of information than standard Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixel) and more than two times WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixel). With 4K, users can display multiple applications simultaneously on a single screen, greatly reducing the need to scroll or switch windows frequently.

Furthermore, the EV3240X and EV2740X have a pixel density of 140 ppi (pixel per inch) and 163 ppi respectively, which is twice the number of concentrated pixels compared to a Full HD monitor. This high pixel density ensures even the smallest text and icons are displayed in crisp detail and excellent clarity.

While many modern laptops are designed to be thinner and more portable, they often have limited connectivity options. The EV3240X and EV2740X are the sister models to the FlexScan Premium business monitor lineup which act as docking stations when connected via USB Type-C. This allows users to display video, playback audio, transmit USB signals, and supply 94 watts of power to connected devices such as laptop computers for streamlined hot desking or remote work.

The monitors have a dedicated LAN port directly built in. Connecting any laptop via USB Type-C allows users to access to the network through the monitor’s stable wired connection for conducting conference calls or transfering data reliably and at high speed. Both monitors also have three USB Type-A ports and an additional USB Type-C downstream port for easily connecting peripherals such as an external keyboard, mouse, or web camera.

The energy required to keep devices powered through USB Type-C results in an unavoidable increase heat generation inside the monitor. To address this while supporting the monitors’ 94-watt power delivery capability, EIZO designed the cabinet with inconspicuous ventilation holes on the rear. This ensures long-term reliability through effective heat dissipation without imposing on the monitor’s aesthetic.

High-quality speakers typically require a certain amount of space to be integrated inside a monitor’s bezel, often resulting in a bulky exterior design. EIZO’s expert engineers found an innovative solution to equip 2-watt speakers into the cabinet while maintaining a virtually frameless and non-intrusive housing design. The high-quality speakers provide clear sound for web conferences and other audio. In addition, an audio output terminal easily accessible on the side of the monitor supports connection to external speakers where amplified sound is called for.

Contributing to a more sustainable future remains an important goal for both businesses and consumers who are looking to manufacturers to carry out environmentally friendly initiatives. The EV3240X and EV2740X were certified by EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) with the highest ranking of Gold, demonstrating environmental consciousness surrounding production such as recycled materials useage, reduced power consumption, environmentally friendly packaging, and lifecycle management in addition to company-wide initiatives such as renewable energy usage and supply chain management. Additionally, both models are certified by worldwide comprehensive sustainability standards including TCO Certified Generation 9 and ENERGY STAR.

As part of EIZO’s commitment to care for the environment, the EV3240X and EV2740X are made of 80% recycled plastic. This cuts down on the amount of plastic waste going into the environment, conserves resources, and promotes reuse of materials for preserving the natural ecosystem. Implementing an energy-efficient panel allows the monitors achieve a reduction in power consumption of 44% and 48% for EV3240X and EV2740X respectively when compared to the previous generation of monitors of the same size and resolution.

As part of EIZO’s initiative to move away from using plastic and styrofoam in product packaging, the monitors are safely packed using molded pulp, which is made from recycled cardboard and newspaper, and cables are wrapped in paper instead of plastic bags. EIZO also offers corporate customers an option for collective packaging, where multiple monitors can be packed together in a single box, with the option to leave out any unnecessary stands or cables. This reduces the amount of packaging materials used, improves loading efficiency, which leads to less overall waste and significantly reduces unpacking and installation time.
