EIZO Visual Systems Adopted as Core Technology in Hitachi Systems' Integrated Visual Data System for Frontline Workers in Infrastructure Maintenance
Hakusan, Japan, July 3, 2025 – EIZO Corporation (TSE: 6737) today announced the integration of its EIZO Visual Systems (EVS) into Hitachi Systems, Ltd.’s new CYDEEN Visual Data Utilization System, launching this July in Japan. This innovative service is designed to support frontline workers engaged in the maintenance and management of social infrastructure by enhancing safety and operational efficiency through advanced digital technologies.
Aging infrastructure, including roads, bridges, tunnels, railways, water and sewage systems, and power lines, presents growing safety risks such as structural failures and service disruptions. These challenges are compounded by a shortage of skilled labor, creating an urgent need for efficient, technology-driven maintenance systems.
The CYDEEN Visual Data Utilization System, developed by Hitachi Systems, addresses these issues by leveraging EVS, a proprietary system developed by EIZO. EVS combines EIZO’s advanced hardware such as monitors, cameras, and encoders/decoders with software powered by unique algorithms and AI. This collaboration delivers a fully integrated and highly reliable solution that enhances the usability and value of video data.
EVS is developed and manufactured entirely in-house. EIZO’s ability to provide both hardware and software as a unified solution for integration with the CYDEEN system ensures high reliability in terms of technology and supply. This makes EVS a trusted choice for users who manage critical infrastructure-related video data.
For example, EVS can be semi-customized to support video data not only from EIZO’s own devices, but also from third-party video equipment and systems. This added flexibility is a key advantage, addressing common limitations in conventional systems, such as incompatibility between products from different manufacturers and difficulty in maintaining consistent video quality across devices introduced at different times.
The CYDEEN system incorporates three major components of EVS. The first is EIZO’s IP hardware solutions and image streaming server software, which allows users to decode, display, and distribute video streams from various surveillance cameras and control terminals across multiple sites. The streaming server software relays and distributes video streams to multiple devices such as tablets, which is particularly useful for monitoring in large-scale infrastructure environments with numerous cameras. Additionally, the software allows recorded data to be extracted and processed based on commands from other systems.
The second component is EIZO’s video sharing system, which features peer-to-peer communication without using the internet or cloud services. Utilizing a proprietary video transmission technology, it prioritizes video quality while simultaneously sharing multiple video streams. This allows not only camera footage but also control system screens to be transmitted in high resolution. Originally developed for the healthcare market, this video sharing system has been adapted for the social infrastructure sector, where closed communication networks are widely used. It enables smooth communication between remote locations, allowing skilled technicians to support frontline workers without needing to be physically present on-site.
The final component is EIZO’s image optimization technology, which processes camera video signals or saved video data to improve visibility, either in real time or on demand. This makes it possible to enhance images and footage taken for remote monitoring of hazardous sites or for maintenance and inspection purposes, contributing to safer and more efficient infrastructure management practices.
Since 2023, EIZO has accelerated the deployment of its EVS to help address pressing social challenges such as labor shortages in infrastructure development. With expanding applications across diverse industries, EIZO continues to evolve EVS to meet increasingly complex societal needs and contribute to a more resilient and efficient future.
