Uchida Yoko - Improving Work Efficiency Through Enhanced Workspace Design
Uchida Yoko Co., Ltd. is a specialized trading company dedicated to creating environments that foster innovation and creativity in schools, public facilities, and office spaces, providing solutions for information and communications technology (ICT) and environment design. Through comprehensive operations including design, manufacturing, supply, and installation of equipment, furniture, and ICT systems, the company introduces innovative workstyles that seamlessly integrate physical and digital spaces, enhancing collaboration between people.
The Enterprise Engineering Division at Uchida Yoko has established a workspace concept called Active CommonsTM, which removes fixed desks and allows employees to choose the most optimal environment for their tasks. In July 2023, the division renovated its office and installed 34 EIZO FlexScan business monitors across four different models. We spoke with the staff involved in the decision-making process to hear their impressions since the installation.
Note: Active CommonsTM is a concept Uchida Yoko has promoted since 2012 as part of ABW (Activity-Based Working), where employees work in shared spaces that change depending on time and task.

Firsthand Experience Builds Confidence: EIZO as the Office Standard
“In July 2023, following an organizational restructuring, our Enterprise Engineering Division was relocated to a new floor. This move served as an opportunity to renovate the entire office space, including the layout, furniture – such as desks and chairs – and ICT tools. EV2480: Compact Yet Spacious – Ideal for Everyday Tasks
“The 23.8-inch EV2480 is the most widely deployed model in the office and is primarily used for routine tasks like email and creating estimates. Its compact design makes it ideal for meeting spaces, where we installed two units per room. This allows two colleagues to display and review documents side by side, improving collaboration.”
“We also installed the EV2480 in private booths used for focused work and online meetings. The monitor's compact size fits well even in booths with limited depth, leaving enough space for laptops and providing ample screen real estate for working comfortably.”
EV3240X: Large 4K Display for Reviewing Drawings and CAD Work
“In our division, we frequently handle multiple drawings and schedules, as well as working with CAD software, so we needed large monitors capable of displaying a lot of information at once. To meet this need, we installed the 31.5-inch EV3240X 4K monitor. Its detailed, 4K high-resolution allows us to view a large amount of information on a spacious screen, making it especially useful for viewing drawings, schedules, and working with CAD. Another notable feature is the blue light reduction, which has helped to reduce eye strain during longer work periods. We set up dedicated workstations equipped with high-performance PCs and EV3240X monitors for employees handling large-scale data in CAD and other applications.”
EV3895: 37.5-inch Ultrawide, Curved Display for Viewing Wide-Format Charts and Multiple Documents
“In response to requests from our employees for improved readability and efficiency when working with wide-format schedules and charts, we installed the EV3895. The 37.5-inch ultrawide screen size has proven invaluable for displaying multiple documents side by side or viewing wide-format charts. This has significantly contributed to improved work efficiency.”
EV2490: Streamlined Multi-Monitor Setup with Daisy Chain
“The EV2490 is equipped with a daisy chain feature that allows monitors to be connected in a series using USB Type-C cables. This made it easy to set up a multi-monitor environment with minimal cabling. Employees can display multiple software programs and windows at once, further improving productivity.”
Requests for EIZO
“In addition to monitors, we are also interested in trying out tools such as the free software Screen InStyle, which enhances the usability of FlexScan monitors, and Screen InStyle Server, which enables centralized configuration of multiple monitors.”
“Looking ahead, we hope to collaborate more closely with EIZO when proposing monitors as part of our division's environment design projects. For example, when planning new monitor installations, we could test various configurations at our own desks to determine the most effective setups. This would allow us to propose optimal desk-and-monitor combinations tailored to our clients’ needs. The insights gained from these trials could also be fed back to our product planning department.”
“Our division is also engaged in business development initiatives such as PC lifecycle management for private-sector clients. In these cases, we could offer a combination of monitors and PCs with specifications optimized for each client’s environment.
