What are the differences between ColorEdge monitors and FlexScan monitors?

ColorEdge monitors offer the following advantages:

- Hardware calibration directly controls hardware (16-bit lookup tables (LUT)) by using ColorNavigator.

- Excellent grayscale properties realized by our factory adjustment conducted for each monitor measuring the R, G, and B gamma values from 0 to 255.

[What is hardware calibration?]

Hardware calibration enables selection of the 256 most appropriate tones from the 16-bit LUT with its 65,281-tone palette built in ColorEdge monitors. While, non-EIZO calibration software performs calibration with the 8-bit LUT built in a graphics card, which results in displaying less than 256 tones on a screen due to color banding as such same color tone or brightness of grayscale levels of 253 and 254. Accordingly, ColorNavigator provides smooth grayscale display with 256 tones, while non-EIZO software tends to display nonsmooth grayscale with less than 256 tones.
